Wilcox. This landmark film paved the way for big budget sci-fi, proving that the material, if taken seriously, could result in a high quality effort. But does it still hold up by today's standards?

Released in summer 1989, The Abyss was considered a cinematic game changer thanks to its underwater photography and groundbreaking visual effects. It was also considered to be a nightmare to shoot by everyone involved in its production, Cameron included.
