Charcoal Dragon Puppet
Who would say not to a couple of free tickets to the Ren Fair?! 5 days before the Koroneburg Renaissance Fair weekend I decided to build myself a dragon puppet to go along with my costume pieces.
There is something so fun about the time constraints of a fast deadline. I started researching all of the parts I’d need. If I could leverage an existing 3D print that would be idea to scratch building with less than a week of build time available.
I found this amazing Flexi Wyvern Finger Hand Puppet designed by Kekreations on Cults3d! She has hundreds of dragon based 3D prints and this one was just what I was looking for.
Adding LED’s to the eyes and elastic around the pivot points brought Charcoal to life. Once I practiced with him in the mirror and to my senses the black glove disappeared and only the dragon remained I knew it had worked!
Charcoal had a great time at the fair and many people gave him pets and took photos. Especially our friends at Rinus Leatherworks!
Used line buckles to test the elastic bands before securing them permanently with zip ties.
Elastic band across wings helps hold the wing tips down.
